MONADNOCK PAPER MILLS RELEASES 2020 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT

Monadnock Paper Mills, Inc., the oldest continuously operating paper mill in the United States, has released its 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

The comprehensive report details the company’s ongoing commitment and metrics centered on its nine core values: Workplace Safety, Operating with Integrity, Quality Workmanship, Customer Respect, Employee Respect, Environmental Stewardship, Corporate Citizenship, Accountability, and Honest Communications.

All Monadnock papers are manufactured carbon neutral (VERs) and made with 100 percent renewable Green-e certified wind powered electricity (RECs) under a third-party certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. Monadnock’s fine printing and packaging papers are FSC certified; technical/specialty papers may be certified to the FSC standard on request.

A long-time leader in producing sustainably advantaged materials, Monadnock Paper Mills has been recognized by leading environmental organizations and government agencies including the Forest Stewardship Council, the Sierra Club, The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the New Hampshire Governor’s Award for Pollution Prevention, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Report Highlights:

●      During the past three years, the company produced 16,469,619 pounds of renewable fiber material that directly replaced plastic in the supply chain, with 2020 accounting for 5,426,719 of that total.

●      In 2020, Monadnock Paper Mills introduced new products made with 100% post-consumer waste (PCW) and alternative fibers, including hemp and cotton linters. PCW accounted for 12.23% of all products manufactured, a 20% increase from 2019.

●      In 2020, the Monadnock Green Team successfully completed efficiency improvement projects across the organization that yielded a savings of 112,000 KWh of electricity and 51,405 gallons of oil, resulting in the avoidance of 1,277,212 pounds of CO2eq emissions.
