BW Converting accelerates performance, efficiency and sustainability ambitions at Latam Paper Mexico

May 23, 2024 Printing, Paper & Packaging, Trade Show Management

The South American tissue market has always been both challenging and attractive, especially in recent decades, when leading multinational converters and packagers operating in this sector decided to build their production sites in this part of the world.

For this reason, this market is pushing itself to experiment with increasingly cutting-edge and high-performance technologies in the tissue converting and packaging sector. The PCMC, W+D, STAX and Northern Engraving brands represent the Hygiene Division of the BW Converting platform. In the spotlight at Latam Paper Mexico, June 12-14 in Mexico City, this suite of technological innovations leverages the power of automation to operate more efficiently and economically, with a reduced environmental impact.

“This theme completely encompasses our work, who we are and what we do – from converting technology, to the end of the packaging line, to embossing rollers – in order to always respond effectively and directly to customer requests and to a continuously evolving market while respecting the environment and sustainability,” said Gino Santi, Tissue Converting Sales Director, Americas.

PARAGON, developed by PCMC, is a revolutionary rewinding system featuring motorized inserts (center drives) and a pivoting winding belt underneath the product. It offers exceptional log control and support from start to finish as well as excellent caliper retention.

Also new is the FORTE SERIES of rewinders, built with conceptual simplicity that allows the technology to continuously improve and evolve, providing a finished product without comparison on the market – ensuring perfection from the first to the last sheet.

INVISIBLE-O, PCMC’s coreless winding converting technology allows rewinding of high- and low-firmness rolls, for both consumer and away-from-home products. Converters can quickly and easily switch between core and coreless production by filling the hopper with cores or mandrels, and if necessary, changing the transfer glue. The rewinder will have the same accessibility and ease of operation and require similar operator skills and diligence as when running with cores.

DIVERSA, developed by STAX, introduces unrivaled flexibility and efficiency in secondary packaging. DIVERSA merges a high-speed bundler and a case packer into one powerhouse solution. A simple adjustment transforms the case packer into a bundler and vice versa, delivering almost double the machine capacity with speeds of more than 25 cases per minute.

W+D’s new VENTUS-TI interfolding system line is BWC Hygiene Division’s entry into the interfolded tissue product market and represents the expertise of the division’s engineering departments. VENTUS-TI allows for the efficient manufacture of myriad interfolding products with energy-saving, vacuum-based folding and a wide range of tissue web unwind options and versatile web treatment processes. Its modular design allows room for future upgrades, enabling manufacturers to scale with the same ultra-efficient technology.

EMBOX by Northern Engraving represents the latest in game-changing digital tissue paper roll designing. Embox is a one-of-a-kind tool that guides the customer experience by an innovative, reliable, technical algorithm, based on the database of engraving patterns developed over the company’s more than 85-year history. The customer can therefore configure a specific product starting from a few significant input data.

Luis Boncristiano, Tissue Converting Sales Executive Latin America and Nikola Nikitović, Tissue Packaging Sales Executive, will respectively present the technologies listed above in two speeches that will be held on Thursday, June 13, in the Tissue Room, at 12:00 pm and 12:20 pm.
