Adduco Communications wins GDUSA’s 2020 American Graphic Design Award in the Direct Mail + Direct Response Category

January 4, 2021 Brand Development, Design, News Releases, Printing, Paper & Packaging

Adduco Communications, the leading B2B Marketing Communications agency specializing in packaging, printing and industrial manufacturing, has received Graphic Design USA’s (GDUSA) prestigious 2020 American Graphic Design Award in the Direct Mail +Direct Response category for its work with Monadnock Paper Mills’ (MPM) and Shawmut Communications Group’s “Sustainability is Kindness” Campaign.

Under the direction of Adduco’s Creative Director Heather Thomson, Account Director Lindsay Doyle, and Graphic Designer Anna Bacon worked with Monadnock and Shawmut to create a direct mail campaign to showcase the dynamic printing capabilities of Monadnock’s Hemp ENVI Performance Board hemp-based substrates.

“The goal was to dispel the reputation sustainable substrates have for being difficult to print on, tough to convert and present a rougher, less finished texture,” says Adduco’s Creative Director, Heather Thomson.  “Because of those misconceptions, many brands think that they have to compromise the beauty of their packaging in the name of sustainability and we were determined to change that perception,” says Thomson.

The Hemp ENVI Performance Board is strong, smooth and can print as well as non sustainable substrates. Adduco worked with Shawmut and Monadnock to create the “Sustainability is Kindness” campaign and developed a custom Hemp ENVI Performance Board direct mailer with dynamic graphics printed by Shawmut inside and outside of the box.  For an interactive and personal touch, Adduco designed a custom coloring piece and a Kind ® Bar was placed inside.

“The timing of the mail drop– July 2020– created a unique opportunity to connect with customers in the middle of nationwide quarantine and remote working, a perfect time to share a positive message, a healthy snack and a smile,” says Lindsay Doyle, who oversaw the project as the Director of the Monadnock team for Adduco.
